Success seems to be connected with action.

Hello Everyone,

Below is a recap of our most recent events. Forgive the delay in posting.

Mobile Food Pantry

By 9:00 on Saturday morning, a crowd formed a block-long line in the neighborhood near Gunter Park where Junior League of Greater Winter Haven (JLGWH) volunteers awaited behind food-laden tables of fresh produce and meat ready to welcome and distribute food - and toiletries - to the people of Lake Hamilton.

By 10:30 am, the crowd - and most of the food - was gone. A total of 145 households accounting for 550 people (287 of them being children) had been served. It was a another successful delivery for the program and we hope to be just as successful with upcoming Mobile Food Pantries.

A special thanks to the Town of Lake Hamilton for hosting us and to Grace Lutheran School for donating the toiletries that were distributed as well as to Heather Reuter and Amanda Bataille for organizing events and leading the volunteers that day.

Light Up the Lanes Bowlaween
Light Up the Lanes Bowlaween was a Halloween-themed bowling event held at Cypress Lanes Family Fun Center - our first time at this venue! Cypress Lanes is a complete entertainment experience that includes 40 lanes of bowling, a contemporary food menu, full bar, and vibrant arcade. A special thanks to Cypress Lanes for hosting our very special event.

"Light Up the Lanes Bowlaween was a wonderful success! The event was full of fun, volunteerism, and love for our community! So proud of the Junior League of Greater Winter and all we do." - Shawn Marie Scott

Congratulations, Ladies! You have concluded your FIRST hugely successful fundraising event! You were able to manage a strong attendance, an engaging experience for your guests - AND volunteers - and we raised over $5,000 for our non-profit organization!!!! That is phenomenal work!

However, without our sponsors many of our programs and events would not be viable. Therefore, it is very important that we thank our sponsors for without their contribution, our event would not have been a success.
On behalf of the JLGWH, I would like express our sincere gratitude for your generous donations to our organization. We really appreciate it! The sponsors are:
  • Mahalak Auto Group
  • Weikert Ford
  • CenterState Bank
  • Orchid Springs Animal Hospital
  • Shannon Orthodontics
  • Badcock Home Furniture & More
The funds we raised will impact our community by (1) providing 125 meals to families in need, (2) sending eight newborns home with diapers and breast feeding essentials, (3) supporting six teachers and classrooms, and (4) sponsor five kids in the kitchen. Fantastic!

Finally, please don't forget to take some time to celebrate, recognize and thank Shawn Marie Scott, Jessica Garrett, and committee members for the feat that they have accomplished by running their first successful fundraiser and supporting an amazing cause. Thank you, all, so very much!
